The Brocade X6-8 Director is a high-performance, enterprise-class Gen 6 Fibre Channel director designed for large-scale, mission-critical SAN environments. This robust 14U chassis delivers unmatched scalability, availability, and density to support today’s demanding data center workloads, including flash storage, NVMe, and FICON applications.
With eight vertical blade slots, the X6-8 scales to 512 ports at 32 Gbps (or a 640-port equivalent when leveraging 128 Gbps UltraScale Inter-Chassis Link ports). It combines high-density FC32-64 port blades, redundant control processors, core routing blades, and hot-swappable power supplies and fans for continuous operation. Advanced features include Brocade Fabric Vision technology, IO Insight, ClearLink diagnostics, and non-disruptive firmware upgrades.
Built for flexibility, the director supports universal ports (E_Port, F_Port, EX_Port, FICON, and D_Port), integrated extension blades for FCIP and FICON over IP, and seamless trunking up to 256 Gbps per ISL. Its modular design minimizes footprint while maximizing performance, making it ideal for core-to-edge fabrics in large enterprises and service providers.
